From Lisbon, the simplest way to get to Portimão is by car on the A2, then the A22; the drive is about 2h45 to just under 3 hours. By bus, express services from Lisbon’s Sete Rios station take roughly 3 to 3h45, and by train you can reach Portimão station with regional connections from other Algarve towns or via connections from Lisbon.
Best options
- By car: Take the A2 southbound from Lisbon, then continue on the A22 into the Algarve. This is usually the fastest and most flexible option from Lisbon.
- By bus: Intercity buses run from Lisbon to Portimão, usually from Sete Rios. Travel time is around 3 to 3h45.
- By train: Portimão has a train station, though rail is generally more useful for travel within the Algarve than as a direct fastest route from Lisbon.
- By plane: The nearest airport is Faro, and from there Portimão is about 50 minutes away by car; you can then continue by transfer, bus, or rental car.
The Organization will provide transfers from Faro airport to the official hotels on 4th December, and from the official hotels to the Faro airport on 9th December. The price is 20,00 EUR each way.
There will be a special transport service from the Seville airport and Seville train station to Portimão on the 4th December (departure from Seville at 19:00 Spanish time), and back on the 9th December (departure from Portimão at 7:00 Portuguese time). The price is 30,00 EUR each way.
Several companies provide bus and train routes from Lisbon to Portimão:

The Portimão train and bus stations are located next to the playing hall. Transfers between the stations and the official hotels can be arranged by request free of charge.
